As part of the Digital Days, the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands will host an event on political content online on January 29.

The European Commission’s Democracy Action Plan will set out measures to tackle threats of external intervention in European elections. Online platforms have proven extremely useful for pushing political advertisements and messages to a large audience. The open nature of platforms also requires us to consider questions of accountability and the potential tension between fact-checking and freedom of speech. Maintaining an accessible and free internet is essential.

Speakers at this event include Meg Chang (Facebook), Monika Ladmanova (Cabinet Jourová, European Commission), Kati Piri (tbc MEP, S&D), and Shannon Bakker (nu.nl). Moderated by Samuel Stolton.
