Release of report 'Conflict and hunger: breaking a vicious cycle'

Today, the Swiss and Netherlands’ Missions to the UN present their findings and recommendations from a series of seminars on the link between conflict and hunger.

Concrete action by the Security Council, UN Member States, humanitarian agencies and other UN entities is needed to counter the negative and reinforcing trends of rising conflict and increasing food insecurity. Prevention of food insecurity linked to conflict, improving compliance with international humanitarian law, and a comprehensive operational response are all essential parts of our common response to the threat of famine in conflict situations.
