Ambassador Robbert Gabriëlse
Biography
Robbert Gabriëlse, the Disarmament Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Geneva, presented his credentials on the 3rd of August 2017 to the President of the Conference on Disarmament, the Ambassador of South Africa Ms. Mxakato-Diseko. Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Robbert Gabriëlse had been serving as Drugs Coordinator and Security Advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague. Before, he had been serving as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan (2013-2016) and Malta (2009-2013).
Robbert Gabriëlse served as Chargé d’Affaires in Libya in 2012 and prior to that he had been serving as Ambassador to Iraq from 2007 until 2009. From 2003 to 2007 he was the Head of the Security, Conflict Prevention and Peace Operations Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague. Robbert Gabriëlse joined the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands in 1988.
Ambassador Gabriëlse has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Leiden University and a Master’s degree in Economics and Sociology from Wageningen University.
Family
The spouse of Ambassador Gabriëlse is Ursula Cehner. He has two children: Alexander and Suzanne.
